Biggersville’s Zae Davis is the DC Player of the Week.

BIGGERSVILLE – Biggersville has put Class 1A on notice that they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Not as long as players like Zae Davis have anything to say about it.

A senior athlete for the maroon-and-white, Davis has been named the latest Daily Corinthian Player of the Week for his performance against Walnut.

Davis, who was a first-team DC All-Area, Region 1-1A and first-team 1A All-State selection last year as a defensive back, touched the ball only twice against the Wildcats in the Lions 46-8 road win but it’s what he did with his touches that put him over the top.

He carried the pigskin twice for a total of 105 yards, with both going for touchdowns covering 60 and 45 yards. Davis also added two tackles and an interception before retiring for the evening with Biggersville owning a large lead at intermission.

“Zae is just one of those guys that we can always count on,” said BHS coach Case Ingram, whose club is now 2-1 with a road game at Thrasher looming Friday. “He is super-talented. He lines up almost anywhere on offense, from running back to the slot to quarterback to receiver and then he is a dynamic playmaker on special teams. He just simply does it all. When you put the ball in his hands’ good things usually happen.”

Over the past two games – a 42-30 home loss to Eupora and at Walnut – Davis, the brother of Ole Miss wide receiver, and former Biggersville and Itawamba Community College standout Qua Davis, has produced 223 rushing yards on six attempts with a 74-yard kickoff return against the Eagles and an interception against the ‘Cats. His 52.5 yards per carrying average against Walnut is believed to be a career-best and his two-game average of 37 ypc is the best in the DC coverage area.
