SALTILLO — The North squad rallied from a 13-0 halftime deficit Wednesday to claim an impressive come-from-behind 29-13 victory in the 2021 NMFCA All-Star Football Game at Willis Wright Stadium on the campus of Saltillo High School.
Game Most Valuable Player Cayden Betts, of Corinth, scored the North’s first touchdown in the third quarter on a 45-yard run around the left side. Scott Robinson of Tishomingo County added the PAT to make it 13-7.
A safety on the South followed by a 51-yard TD run by Independence running back Kylan Garrett handed the North their first lead at 16-13 midway thru the fourth.
Corinth’s Nazarius Jones ran in untouched for a seven-yard score with around three minutes to play before Ripley defensive back Sentavious Hunt returned an interception 47 yards for the final points of the game.
Kossuth quarterback Brock Seago started and took a majority of the snaps for the North while 25 players from the Daily Corinthian coverage area participated in the contest.
