The 30th Annual NEMCABB All-Star Baseball Classic games return to Corinth this Saturday after being canceled in 2020 due to COVID.

“We moved it up a little this year and we’ve had to rearrange some roster spots on some of the teams but we are expecting a capacity crowd for each game,” said event founder and organizer John Smillie. “We are excited to be able to have the games again this year after a year off. We always have some competitive games with some of the top seniors around north Mississippi and it’s always a good time for all ages.”

The 1A/2A game will begin the day with a 1 p.m. first pitch and will feature numerous players from area schools as is usually the case.

The West Team will include John Eaton, Jack Eaton, Ward Johnson and Quinton Knight from the Region 1-1A co-champion Biggersville Lions. The East squad will have Austin Sullivan and Jeremiah Mitchell of Falkner, Colton Fitzsimmons and Mason Walden of New Site. Cason Jones, Cooper Rinehart and DJ Smith from Pine Grove, Ashton Pharr from Thrasher and Aisen McMillin from Walnut.

The 1A/2A West Team will be led by the Eupora High School coaching staff, headed by Cole McBride. The East Team will be coached by the Falkner High School staff, including head coach Brad Barnes.

The 3A/5A rosters are lined with six local standouts. Booneville’s Hayden Donahue, Jackson McCoy and Kyle Church are on the West Team along with Kossuth’s Keb Brawner. The East Team will include Parker Rushing and Jayden Adams of Alcorn Central. Avery Kuykendall of Belmont will also suit up for the East squad.

The West will be headed up by the Water Valley coaching staff while the West Point staff will lead the East. The game time for the 3A/5A game will be 3:30 p.m.

The 4A/6A contest will feature six Corinth – the Region 1-4A champion – seniors along with one from Tishomingo County. Warriors on the roster include Cayden Betts, Will Verdung, Chess Parker, Will Crawford, Cole Clark and Braden Mills. Charlie McAnnally will represent the Braves.

The West will be led by the coaching staff from South Panola while the East will have hometown flavor as the CHS staff will do the honors. The first pitch for the 4A/6A contest is set for 6 p.m.

The Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m., between the first two contests. The honorees this year are New Albany’s Eli Whiteside, Nettleton’s Bill Hall and Coach Brad Mitchell of Saltillo. Whiteside played collegiately at Delta State as well as for the Baltimore Orioles and San Francisco Giants in the Major Leagues. Hall played in the MLB for the Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox.

Admission for the event is $5 and concessions will be open with a full menu of food and soft drinks.
