Itawamba AHS 42, Tishomingo County 9

A Jackson Price-Jones 60-yard touchdown run was the highlight for Tishomingo County in a 42-9 loss to the Itawamba AHS Indians on Friday.

Nathan Daniel booted the PAT.

"Our offensive line played a lot better tonight," Tishomingo County head coach Richard Russo said. "Our defensive backs played a lot better tonight."

The Braves defense forced a safety on a punt for their other points. But TCHS had to contend with 2020 2-4A Player of the Year Tae Chandler and the No. 4 Indians.

"(Chandler) is getting looks from Notre Dame, Ole Miss, a lot of schools," Russo said. "He's a really good player.”

The Braves (1-5, 0-1 in Region 1-4A) travel to Caledonia (5-1, 1-0 in Region 1-4A), a 49-21 winner over Corinth, next Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Falkner 54, Thrasher 0

The homestanding Eagles finally busted loose on offense as they ran past Thrasher 54-0 to improve to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 1-1A.

The Rebels fall to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in Region 1-1A.

“We are still struggling to find the right chemistry,” said THS coach Ross Coley. “They (Falkner) had a really good running back, number three, that busted a couple of long runs on us and we just couldn’t contain them.”

The Rebels will return home for a Thursday game this week when they host Ashland.

McNairy Central 42, Liberty Tech 6

The Bobcats got two touchdown runs from Jackson Michael Whitten, Kase Wiggins added a rushing TD while passing for two scores to Bryce King and Nate Palmisano as McNairy Central broke into the win column with a dominant 42-6 road win at Liberty Tech in Jackson (Tenn).

The ‘Cats are now 1-6 overall and will host county rival Adamsville next Friday.

Baldwyn 49, Walnut 8

The No. 3 (2A) Bearcats were not kind Friday, showing no mercy to a young, rebuilding Wildcat team as they defeated Walnut 49-8 to improve to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in Region 1-2A.

Baldwyn out-gained the ‘Cats 372-126, building a 42-0 lead after three quarters.

Walnut finally found the end zone in the final period when quarterback Drew Jackson found Andrew Crum for a 42-yard score. Eli Dollar added the two-point conversion.

Coach John Meeks squad falls to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in Region 1-2A. They will host East Union next Friday.
