Local players, coaches represent area in MAC All Star Game

Alcorn Central rising senior Mia Griffin with AC Head Coach Eric Lancaster (left) and Belmont rising senior Kathryn Greene with BHS Head Coach Stephanie Cleveland represented northeast Mississippi well in the recent MAC All Star Volleyball Game held at Millsaps College in Jackson on Wednesday. The event featured the cream of the crop from the 2021-22 senior class from all classifications in the Magnolia State. The South squad snapped a three-year win streak by the north with a 2-1 victory. “All the girls had a blast playing and hanging out together,” said Lancaster of the experience. “Mia and Kathryn both played well, especially on defense, and proved they belonged even though they are from smaller schools. I was very impressed with the talent level of all the players and the game was well attended. I’d say the gym was about 90 percent full and the fans who attended definitely got their moneys worth.”
