MONTGOMERY — The Southern States Athletic Conference named Blue Mountain College’s Thomas Ratliff of Corinth the Runner of the Week on Tuesday.
Ratliff competed at the University of Alabama-Huntsville Invitational Saturday where he ran a 28:15 time in the 8K, a pace of 5:41 per mile.
A total of 120 runners competed in the event with several NCAA programs among the mix.
Ratliff finished ahead of runners from Auburn-Montgomery and Mississippi College, both NCAA DII schools.
BMC head coach Heather Duley commented, “I’m so proud of the way Thomas raced this past week. He was confident and led the team extremely well. I look forward to seeing him continue to improve over the next month.”
The award gives Blue Mountain Cross Country its fourth of the season in three weeks, as women’s runner Leah Johnson claimed the first two SSAC Runner of the Week awards while Will Porter won week one.
