Four baseball teams from the Daily Corinthian coverage area began their best-of-three third round MHSAA Playoff series Thursday with Booneville the only one to escape with a “W”

•The Blue Devils rode the strong pitching performance of Hayden Donahue to build a 7-2 lead as they held off a seventh inning rally by Kossuth to win game one 7-5.

Game two is set for a 7 p.m. first pitch Friday on the Aggies home field.

•Biggersville plated four runs to begin their series against TCPS in Tupelo. However, the home-standing Eagles evened the score in the bottom of the first and went on to win game one 8-6 over the Lions.

Game two is set for a 6 p.m. start Friday at The Lions Den.

•Corinth simply ran into a buzz-saw and had a game they hope to soon forget and put behind them as West Lauderdale won game one of the 4A third round series 11-1 in Collinsville.

Game two will be at Corinth Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
