A record-breaking performance earned McNairy Central sophomore quarterback Jack Johnson Daily Corinthian Player of the Week honors following a road win at Collinwood.

The victory evened MC’s record at 4-4 heading into their homecoming date with No. 29 Milan (7-1) this Friday.

Johnson and the ‘Cats suffered through a slow start this season against a formidable lineup of opponents, including Peabody and South Gibson, but have grown into a much better team following their 1-4 start.

Against Collinwood Johnson passed for a single-game school record 405 yards while tying the single game record with five touchdown passes.

It was, by far, the best performance of the 2020 campaign for Johnson and the Bobcats offense.

“Jack just keeps getting better and better each week,” said McNairy Central head coach Brian Franks. “People sometimes forget that he’s just a sophomore and this is his first year as a starter. He and the receivers have developed a chemistry and the offensive line has been opening holes and pass blocking better, helping us stretch the field.”

Congratulations to McNairy Central quarterback Jack Johnson the Daily Corinthian Player of the Week.
