Biggersville Plays for 1A State Baseball Title

Zach Winters, Biggersville’s only senior on this year’s baseball team, zeroed in on this pitch in game one of the state playoffs against TCPS, as he blasted a three-run homer to end the game. Winters is a first-team selection on the All-Division 1-1A Team. Winters and the rest of the Lions will battle for the 1A state championship beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 against Resurrection Catholic School of Pascagoula at Trustmark Park in Pearl. The second game will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26 followed by the "if necessary" third game at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28. Biggersville last won a state title in baseball in 1994, the school's only state title in that sport. If the Lions pull off the state title, it will be the school's third this school year. Both the Biggersville boys and girls basketball teams won state titles this year and it was the second straight for the boys.
