All five Daily Corinthian coverage area volleyball teams made short work of their first round opponents on Tuesday as the MHSAA playoffs began.

Second round matches are scheduled for Thursday.

Kossuth dominated Yazoo County at KHS, winning 3-0 while Walnut did the same at home, winning 3-0 over visiting East Webster.

Alcorn Central, Biggersville and Tishomingo County each won in straight sets on the road as the Lady Bears defeated Winona 3-0, Biggersville took care of South Pontotoc 3-0.

Second round match-ups set for Thursday will be Kossuth at Byhalia, Water Valley at Alcorn Central, Hickory Flat at Biggersville, Pontotoc at Tishomingo County and Walnut at East Union. All matches through the first three rounds will begin at 6 p.m.
