The annual Alcorn County Tournament was announced as postponed early Thursday morning when the Alcorn School District announced classes would not meet due to inclement weather.

This led to this year’s tournament, held at Biggersville High School, being pushed back and restructured in order to allow all area teams to play for the coveted title, and bragging rights, of being this year’s county champion.

Games were pushed back to Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the first action played at 4 p.m. Friday with the junior varsity Alcorn Central Lady Bears facing off against the Biggersville Lady Lions. The Kossuth Lady Aggies and Lady Warriors teams followed at 5:30 followed by the varsity girls games between the top seeded Lady Lions and fourth seeded Alcorn Central. Friday night’s action was capped off with the varsity boys Biggersville squad and the Kossuth Aggies at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s games will consist of the junior varsity girls’ championship at 1:30 p.m. and the JV boy’s championship at 3 p.m. These games will be followed by a break, with play resuming at 6 p.m. with the Corinth and Kossuth varsity Girls. The Alcorn Central and Corinth varsity boys matchup will be the last contest of the evening, tipping off at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the final two games will take place in order to crown this year’s championship varsity squads with the girls matchup coming at 2 p.m, and the boy’s at 3:30 p.m.
