Kossuth’s Emma Arthur named DC Player of the Week

With the prep volleyball regular season being in its final week, there remain just two more opportunities to select a Daily Corinthian Player of the Week.

Make that just one now.

Based on coach recommendations, along with weekly stats, Kossuth junior setter Emma Arthur has been named the DC Volleyball Player of the Week for the next-to-last week of the regular season.

There will be no POW selections after the playoffs begin in any sport.

Arthur is a first-time honoree who posted 30 assists, seven aces and seven digs in two Lady Aggies victories last week over McNairy Central and Ripley.

“I refer to Emma as our ‘encourager’,” said KHS coach Dawnell Haupt. “She is one of my non-club players that have continued to get better every game and is now a team leader. She never allows her teammates to get down. Every player on our team has their specific role and Emma fills hers as well as anyone I’ve had. And she’s so coachable and loves the game.”

Kossuth finishes the regular season home games this week, which began Monday with a home date against county rival Biggersville. They host division rival Booneville on Tuesday to wrap up Region 1-3A play before welcoming defending 2A state champion Walnut on Thursday.
