The Kossuth Aggies and Lady Aggies both finished in third place Monday in the 3A State Cross Country Meet in Clinton.

Katie and Ava Meeks finished third and sixth overall for the girls while George Wilbanks was the top boys runner for KHS placing eighth overall while Peyton Lathrop finished 13th.

Both were topped by private schools, the KHS girls by St. Andrews and St. Patrick and the KHS boys by St. Patrick and St. Stanislus.

The Alcorn Central Bears placed fifth in boys 3A behind Amory while the Lady Bears checked in right behind Kossuth in fourth.

Lady Bear sophomore Aubree Justice, who was featured in a recent article on the Mississippi Milesplit website, was the girls gold medalist Monday as the overall top 3A finisher.

More on the Kossuth and Alcorn Central races at the state meet will appear in an upcoming edition of the Daily Corinthian.
