The 2021 Lighthouse Classic tips in two weeks, just in time for the hoops connoisseurs who weren’t satisfied with just their Thanksgiving turkey and all the trimmings.

Following last years cancellation of the nationally recognized holiday tournament due to some pandemic that was going around, it’s back to normal – or at least as close to normal as we can be – as Tournament Director Vince Overholt has pieced together another outstanding schedule of top teams and players, with a lot of local flavor added in.

Top-flight teams such as Hamilton Heights, the 2019 and 2020 NACA National Champions and defending Lighthouse Classic Prep Challenge champs, will be on hand to defend that title, while Memphis East has been slotted in to make a return trip to the Crossroads City.

And we all know the storied history of the Mustangs program.

Also on hand will be defending Mississippi state runners-up Ingomar (1A), Booneville (3A) and Raymond (4A). Callaway will also be back having won five 5A state championships since 2012.

Also traveling up from the Jackson area will be defending 6A champion Clinton as well as four-time defending MAIS 6A State Champion Madison Ridgeland Academy (MRA).

The ‘Prep Challenge’ will feature Chicago Prep, Dream City (Ariz) Christian, aforementioned Hamilton Heights and Orangeville (Canada) Prep.

The Prep Challenge always features some of the top teams as well as top players, from around the country.

Madison (La) Prep returns after winning five of the past seven Louisiana 3A state titles. Former Tishomingo County Coach Craig Dailey will bring his Delta Academy squad over from the Delta while Tupelo makes their return. The Golden Wave are the top-ranked team in the area currently and are always loaded with talent.

Hungry for more? Stay tuned as more 2021 Lighthouse Classic previews are on the way over the next two weeks leading up to the event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27 at Corinth High School.
