Local youth league baseball squad Kenny’s Cardinals are no strangers to success on the diamond.
They have established a legacy when it comes to high-level performance against the best competition.
The team added three more trophies to the collection recently, including a 15-1 victory over the Blount Impact Dirtdawgs from Oneonta, Ala., to capture the 2020 Grand Slam World Series 10U championship in Panama City, Fla., on July 2.
Their overall record in the five-day event was 4-1.
Since then the Cardinals have won the 2020 Grand Slam State Tournament in Winona on July 12 along with the USSSA State Tournament in Oxford on July 26.
In the state tournament title game, the ‘Cards topped the MS Yankees from Madison 11-2 and defeated the Yalobusha Giants 8-0 in the USSSA championship contest.
The club was 4-1 overall in the state tournament and went unbeaten with a 5-0 slate in the USSSA event.
The Cardinals overall season records were 20-5 inside the USSSA and 23-6 in the Grand Slam division.
Team members are Matson Killough, Rilyn Lambert, Reed Gonzales, Korbin Smith, Evan Killough, Konner Shelton, Ethan Killough, Carter Craver, Kipptyn Briggs and Braden Davis. Serving as head coach is Michael Killough, assisted by brother Matt Killough, Derek Smith and Ross Shelton.
