Biggersville’s Tre Gunn hit a double and an RBI single in their win over Hickory Flat on Monday night.
Alcorn Central’s Mady Cornelius hit a triple and drove in two runs against Tishomingo County.
Biggersville baseball picked up its fourth straight win, hitting the road to face Hickory Flat on Monday night.
The Lions won 5-1 behind a strong effort on the mound from Case Hilliard and Hunter Johnson.
Hilliard made the start and went the first six innings, striking out five and walking just one. He allowed one run on three hits. Johnson finished off the win with a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit and a walk.
Johnson also led the way at the plate with a three hit night.
Drew Rowsey, Tre Gunn, Luke Overstreet and Bubba Harris had a pair of hits each.
Gunn, Rowsey and Harris all hit doubles. In the third inning, the Lions took a 2-0 lead on an RBI double from Rowsey and an RBI single from Gunn.
Brooks Seago added a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and Overstreet had an RBI single in the fifth. The final run scored in the seventh when Overstreet reached on an error to score Johnson.
In softball, Tishomingo County traveled to Alcorn Central in a makeup game, getting a 14-3 win.
The Lady Braves scored five runs in the first two innings, but the Lady Bears cut that lead to two with three runs in the bottom of the third.
For Alcorn Central, Mady Cornelius hit a triple and drove in two of their three runs.
Tishomingo County pulled away with three runs in the fourth and finished off the win with six runs in the fifth.
For the Lady Braves, Madelyn Long had a three-hit day with a triple and three RBIs. Lily Ware hit a double, a triple and drove in four runs. Leadoff hitter Madi Wadkins had a pair of hits, along with Hallie Durham and Gracie Wilson. Paisley Barnes added a double in the winning effort.
Wilson was the winning pitcher, allowing an unearned run on one hit and one walk. She struck out two in the win.
