Mrs. Morris passed away peacefully at The Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Friday, June 19, 2020. She was born on September 29, 1930, to Leslie Martin and Bertha Inez Bowers King in Alcorn County. Mrs. Morris married the love of her life, Barney Worth Morris, on February 9, 1951. She received her graduate degree from Mississippi State University and her master’s in education from Indiana State University and taught school in both Indiana and Mississippi for 40 plus years. She was beloved and respected by her fellow teachers and students. To this day, former students still ask about their favorite teacher and love to share memories. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and attended Clear Creek Church of Christ. She loved to sew, garden and cook. She received recognition for her wonderful cooking talents in local magazines. Her passion for basketball, starting in high school, earned her athletic scholarships to college. They enjoyed their summers in Northern Minnesota, spending time with their family, going out for evening pontoon rides, dad fishing, and mom visiting with the other women at the resort. She enjoyed her traveling adventures with her daughters to Hawaii, California, to British Columbia, as well as locations around the United States.
She is survived by her daughters, Pattie Reiplinger (Tim) and Dana Morris; son, Jeff Morris; grandchildren, Tim Reiplinger (Kristy), Jason Reiplinger (Laurie) and Ryan Reiplinger (Amanda); Maggie Buckanaga; Christy Bath (Aaron) and Jamie Morris; sister, Barbara Herman Lundgren; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Morris took her last breath with her daughters by her side reading Bible scriptures and sharing memories, holding her hand and gently rubbing her cheek with what was a noticeably slight smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Worth Morris, parents, Les and Inez King; her brothers, Sidney King and Hayward King; and her sister Martha Little.
Because of the COVID virus, we understand you may be uncomfortable attending and just ask that you keep mom in your heart and say a prayer for her on Saturday.
Duane Ellis will officiate the service.
