A head-on collision in the Glen area Wednesday morning claimed the life of an Alcorn County woman.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell said the deceased is Geneva Lynn Parker, 60, of County Road 306.

The crash was reported about 11:15 on County Road 306 near the intersection with Road 306-A. It appears the vehicle driven by Parker crossed the center line, and the other driver was unable to avoid the collision, according to the investigation by the sheriff’s office.

“At this time, we can’t definitively say what caused her to cross the center line,” said Caldwell. “It appears she may have had a medical episode prior to doing that.”

Parker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was Cassandra Lynn Norval, 31, of County Road 306. She and a five-year-old female passenger were taken to Magnolia Regional Health Center but were not seriously injured.
