The time to register for the Lighthouse Foundation Toy Store is now.

Registration is continuing for the annual program helping families in Alcorn County provide Christmas gifts for their children.

Registration for those seeking help through the program will be held each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon during the first three weeks of November with the last daytime registration on November 18. Evening registration sessions will be held on November 18 and November 30 at 6 p.m. for those unable to register during the day.

Those registering must bring photo identification, proof of Alcorn County residency (such as a utility bill or other bill showing their street address) and a birth certificate for each child being served through the program.

Toy Store shopping day for families will be December 9.

Foundation Executive Director Gary Caveness said he strongly encourages anyone interested in receiving help from the program to go ahead and register as early as possible. He said it’s essential that all those needing assistance register since items for the Toy Store are purchased based on the number of children registered and they aren’t able to provide assistance to anyone who hasn’t registered by the deadline.

“If they’re hurting this Christmas, you really need to come see us,” he said.

The project also requires a huge number of volunteers each year and all volunteers must attend one of two mandatory training sessions before taking part. Volunteer training is set for November 6 and November 7 at 6 p.m.

Donations are being accepted now and can be made in person at the foundation or by mail to P.O. Box 2121, Corinth, MS 38835.

Anyone interested in volunteering should call the foundation at 662-286-0091.
