While city leaders are looking at difficult budget choices for the coming fiscal year, tax collections continued to rise as the current year nears its end.

The mid-August sales tax deposit posted a 6.5 percent gain, keeping the city on track for a healthy end-of-year total. Through 11 months, the city has collected $6.21 million, a gain of 5 percent, or approximately $284,900, from the prior year.
