Only one Alcorn County municipality will be among those choosing leaders at the polls on Tuesday.

Rienzi has a contested election for the Board of Aldermen on Mississippi’s municipal general election day, when voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Rienzi Town Hall.

The town has seven candidates for the five alderman seats: Incumbents Jimmy Harwood, Dale A. Leonard, David W. Massey, Harold W. Palmer and James Strickland are on the ballot with Melissa Bearden Morgan, a former alderwoman, and Amy Norvell.

Rienzi’s mayor, Walter Williams, is unopposed. He is currently serving his third term.

Glen and Kossuth have only enough candidates to fill the available positions for mayor and alderman and are not required to hold elections. Farmington’s mayor and alderman races were already decided during the party primary election.

Corinth is not on the regular municipal election cycle and will vote in 2022.

As with all Mississippi elections, voters will be required to show photo identification on Tuesday.
