Corinth police are looking for leads in the case of a man gunned down in front of his home Sunday evening.
Police Chief Ralph Dance said the deceased is Ryan Thorne, 26, of 1500 Bunch Street. The shooting happened there about 6:25 p.m. After being shot one time in the chest area, Thorne was able to call a friend to help him.
“It appeared he was shot in the driveway of his residence,” said Dance. “He walked back to the house and sat down in his doorway and waited on his friend to come and get him and transport him to the hospital.”
He apparently did not tell the friend any specifics of what transpired.
Investigators worked the scene Sunday evening and continued to work the case on Monday, but few leads have emerged thus far. It is not known if the shooter was a visitor at the residence or if it might have been a drive-by situation.
Thorne died at Magnolia Regional Health Center shortly after arriving there.
Detective Mike Suitor is leading the investigation. Dance encourages anyone who may have seen something related to the case or who has information to contact the police department.
