The Corinth Police Department is seeking a suspect who remains at large in the fatal July 4 shooting of a Corinth man.

Capt. Dell Green identified the shooting victim as Dezzon Markez Thomas, 28.

After a report of shots fired at 4:52 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Martin Luther King Drive, Capt. Dell Green said officers arrived to find a gunshot victim lying near the 500 block of Scales Street. Thomas was taken to Magnolia Regional Health Center, where he later died from the injuries, said Green.

It was determined the shooting took place on Martin Luther King Drive, where two individuals exchanged gunfire. The second individual, identified as Christopher Shamar Rogers, 38, of Corinth, left the scene.

Green said the investigation continues and it is not yet clear what circumstances led to the confrontation between the two men.
