Officials identified a Tennessee man as the victim of a fatal collision on South Harper Road Friday afternoon.

Sheriff Ben Caldwell said the deceased is James Glidewell, 73, of Savannah, Tenn.

He was the driver of a pickup truck exiting SMC Recycling to head east on Harper Road at about 3:15 p.m. The sheriff said Glidewell’s truck entered the path of an oncoming pickup driven westbound by Erica Rogers of Corinth.

Caldwell said it appears Glidewell may not have seen the oncoming vehicle when he began to enter Harper Road. The oncoming truck struck Glidewell’s vehicle at the driver’s side door.

The two drivers were the only occupants of the trucks.
