Waiting for the right time to play the Mississippi Lottery?
The reasonably new Mississippi Match 5 game is the perfect ticket.
Just over two months since launching the first state-only-based draw game, lottery officials are excited to see the slowly increasing jackpot amount now over half a million dollars.
“Excitement is swelling as the Mississippi Match 5 jackpot surges past half a million dollars,” said Mississippi Lottery Corporation President Tom Shaheen. “We are delighted with the enthusiasm our players are showing for this game.”
The game has lasted 25 drawings without a jackpot winner. To win a person needs to match all five numbers drawn. The next drawing is Tuesday night for $550,000.
The game’s first drawing was on April 29. The jackpot has only been hit once on May 1 for $55,000.
If there is no jackpot winner for the June 29 drawing, the estimated jackpot for the Thursday, July 1, drawing is anticipated to roll to $575,000. If the jackpot is hit, the new starting amount will be an estimated $50,000.
Two nationwide draw games also currently have large jackpots.
“Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot is currently an estimated $61 million, while Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot is currently an estimated $88 million,” said Shaheen.
With one month left in the fiscal year, the state lottery has already transferred more than $12.9 million to the Mississippi State Treasury.
According to the 2018 legislation that created the lottery, the first $80 million goes to MDOT to repair roads and bridges across the state, while any remaining dollars benefit education.
