Corinth narcotics investigators charged a man following a traffic stop on Tuesday.
Cortez Lamar Shields, 32, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Detective Sgt. Bo Swindle said the arrest followed a stop on a vehicle at North Parkway and Third Street for speeding. As Shields exited the vehicle, Swindle said a baggie of crack cocaine fell out onto the ground.
A search found Shields to be in possession of $162 and a digital scale used to weigh narcotics, and a loaded .380 pistol was found between the front seats of the vehicle, according to investigators.
