An Iuka man died from injuries he suffered in a Monday morning wreck in Tishomingo County.

Twenty-six-year-old Dakota Lynn Nelson of 208 Pickwick Circle was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident around 11:40 a.m. by Tishomingo County Deputy Coroner James Rich.

Rich said Nelson was driving a small car going east on U.S. 72 when he crossed the highway median into oncoming traffic. Nelson’s vehicle was struck by a truck in the westbound lane just inside the city of limits of Burnsville near the former Lambert’s Hardware building.

Rich said a female passenger in the vehicle was taken from the scene with serious injuries.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
