A Corinth artist is bringing together local talent for a free, family-friendly holiday event next week.
Katie Waisanen has compiled the eclectic group for the Christmas Variety Show at Hillbilly’s Wing Shack in Adamsville, Tenn. Set for 7 p.m., the event will feature close to two dozen actors from across the region with many of those hailing from Corinth and Alcorn County.
“We’ve been thinking about the idea of a Christmas variety show for awhile,” said Waisanen. “It’s been such a terrible year for so many people that we really wanted to try to bring together all these wonderful, amazingly talented people to spread some Christmas cheer. The show will be a lot of fun for the entire family – an upbeat event for those who want to get out.”
According to Waisanen, the show will feature musicians singing Christmas classics and comedy sketches of the holiday’s most beloved scenes from film and TV.
The lineup of talent includes Corinth natives David Maxedon, Kelly Hutchins, Samuel Slone, Dave Frost, Maurryn Arizona and Waisanen.
It will also feature Selmer, Tenn. locals Nicole Arkinson and Chris Mullins, Ivan Weaver and Michael Owen from Adamsville, Tenn., Alesha Cupples from Walnut, Tupelo’s Sherrie Black and Dalton Black of Nashville.
The event is one part entertainment, one part good food.
“The show is free, but the dinner is of course being provided by Hillbilly’s at a cost. We hope folks will stop in for the show and enjoy the food while here,” added Waisanen. “Hillbilly’s are kind enough to allow us to host the show at their restaurant at no charge. They are happy to provide an place for artists to showcase their talent.”
While no restrictions are in place for the event, the CDC does recommend wearing a face covering while in public and maintaining a social distance of at least six feet.
