Officials want the public’s help is locating a black four-door Chevy Tahoe with damage to the front passenger side.

Law enforcement agencies are searching for a hit and run suspect who fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian with an SUV on Wednesday afternoon on South Harper Road.

Officials want the public’s help is locating a black four-door Chevy Tahoe with damage to the front passenger side, said Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell.

The male victim was airlifted with injuries near the accident scene.

The accident happened at 4 p.m. just east of Manpower Road near Mississippi Polymers, he said.

Security cameras captured the Tahoe on video and eyewitness confirmed it was the vehicle which struck the victim, he said.

“We need the public’s help in finding this vehicle,” said Caldwell.

Contact the sheriff’s office at 662-286-5521 to share information.

It was unclear why the victim was walking along South Harper Road, he said.

More information will be released to the Daily Corinthian as it becomes available, including the status of the victim, said the sheriff.
