The Lodge at Pickwick Landing State Park will soon be alive with a night of Cajun-flavored dancing, music, food and wine.
There are only about 15 tickets left to attend one of the more popular winter annual events called Jazz & Wine and hosted by Friends of Pickwick Landing State Park, according to event chair Sheri Rinks.
“It’s always crazy,” she said. “The minute we say we’re having it, we get bombarded with phone calls. I didn’t even have time to get my posters up this year.”
The Mardi Gras themed event includes Cajun food like jambalaya, Cajun shrimp, boudin balls and king cake. Doors open at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 in the lodge. Tickets are $100 each.
“It starts at 6, but people like to come at 5 to take pictures and socialize,” said Rinks.
Cedar Chest Liquors will provide the wine tasting.
“Amber Falls Winery from Summertown usually comes,” said Rinks.
Memphis -based Thump Daddy Memphis will provide music.
“They will play jazz until people start dancing, then they will play some dance music,” said Rinks.
Proceeds go to fund projects by Friends of Pickwick Landing State Park. The organization funds projects at the park such as a Butterfly Garden, kayaks and canoes, walking trails and other enhancements.
Wine & Jazz is held every February by the friends group and is one of the largest fundraisers of the year.
The group just hosted a sold out New Year’s Eve Bash at the lodge.
Friends also host a six-mile Race to the Landing foot race every October.
