A new insurance scam is targetting Mississippi Farm Bureau customers.

Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney recently released a warning to customers of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company.

Chaney said reports have been received from some customers who have recently received fraudulent letters and checks from Mississippi Farm Bureau.

The fraudulent letter will have a heading regarding funds and check management instruction. The instructions, according to Chaney, accompanying the check will advise the recipient to send an email or text to a fraudulent email address or telephone number before depositing the check into the bank.

Cheney said Mississippi Farm Bureau is working to protect their customer’s security.

The Company does not require preauthorization on company-issued checks.

Anyone who receives a fraudulent letter or check such as the one described should immediately contact their local Farm Bureau insurance agent or adjuster.

Contact the Corinth Farm Bureau office at 662-286 -6329.

The Insurance Fraud Division of the Mississippi Insurance Department can be reached at 800-562-2957.
