Happy campers are easy to find at Tishomingo State Park thanks to recently completed improvements.
As spring nears and thoughts turn to the great outdoors, the natural treasure nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Tishomingo County is welcoming visitors with newly expanded RV camping sites offering more space and the latest amenities.
Andre Hollis, Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks Director of Park Operations, said the newly upgraded RV campsites make it easier than ever for RVers to enjoy the great outdoors. The improvements have expanded the sites to approximately 60 feet long and also broadened their width allowing more space for the latest RVs featuring larger side pullouts.
Electrical hookups at the sites have also been improved with all now offering 50-amp electrical service to better serve modern RV campers.
Hollis said campers are loving the new features, which also includes new charcoal grills, and picnic tables.
“People have been really pleased,” he said.
Hollis said they want everyone to come out and enjoy Mississippi’s natural wonders.
“We invite everyone to come visit and explore,” he said.
Opened to the public in May 1939, Tishomingo State Park offers unique places for camping, hiking, canoe and fishing trips and much more. The park’s landscape of massive rock formations provide views and experiences that can’t be found anywhere else in Mississippi and features its signature swinging bridge, one of the most recognizable images of Northeast Mississippi.
The campground surrounds Haynes Lake and features two bathhouses.
The park offers RV and primitive campsites, cabins, and a large lodge for events. Recent additions include glamping sites which includes a canvas tent with a bed, a wooden table and two chairs.
