Homemade spaghetti helps the Russo family raise $3K

The Russo family plans to make it an ongoing tradition to have a fundraiser each year.

BURNSVILLE -- The Russo family raised over $3,000 for the Bridge House over the weekend. Richard Russo sold over 300 plates of homemade spaghetti at the Bridge Church.

"The fundraiser was a success. It was great to see so many people from Tishomingo County and the surrounding areas attend," said Jason Roberts, president of the Bridge House.

Roberts said the Russo family prepared the lunch and put everything together. The family plans on having an annual fundraiser each year for the Bridge House in remembrance to David Russo, who passed away in April 2019. Russo battled drug addiction and depression. Before his passing he donated a portion of his insurance policy to the charity, said Roberts.

"The event brought many people together. It was definitely a day for fellowship," said Roberts, who serves on the Board of Directors for the Bridge House.

Sen. Daniel Sparks, Rep. Bubba Carpenter and Supervisor Nicky McRae were all in attendance, said Roberts.
