Havis' Kids Founder Havis Hurley arrives at the All Star Sports Resort at Walt Disney World in October 2018 along with 29 special needs kids and their families for a trip of a lifetime. Havis' Kids volunteers have several fundraising events planned over the next six weeks and community participation is being sought. Havis' Kids returns to Walt Disney World in October 2020.

Havis' Kids volunteers are as busy as Santa's helpers at the North Pole this time of year.

Havis' Kids Nights at two local restaurants, holiday art paint party, one-mile fun run/walk and Mother-Son Ball are just a few of the activities planned over the next six weeks.

Sponsors and participation are needed as founder Havis Hurley and his host of volunteers are planning a trip to Walt Disney World for special needs children on Oct. 3-10, 2020.

This will be Havis' Kids fifth trip to Disney World after trips in 2018, 2016, 2014 and 2012. Twenty-nine Havis' Kids made the trip last year.

Over 30 are expected to make the trip next year.

There are several upcoming events for the community to get involved.

Havis' Kids Nights

Two Corinth restaurants are planning three Havis' Kids Nights this month.

McAlister's Deli will have the first from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, then another from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21. Volunteers keep tips and Havis' Kids gets 10 percent of the sales during the time frame.

Taylor's Escape Havis' Kids Night will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Havis' Kids gets 10 percent of the proceeds during the event.

Havis' Kids Paint Party

Participants are sought for a Havis' Kids Paint Party set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the L.C. Follin building in Kossuth. Cost is $35 and participants will be able to paint and keep either a Santa or Snowman door hanger.

Havis' Kids Jolly Jog

"It really is a fun event," said Annie Richardson, coordinator. "And this year we have added a costume contest which should be fun as well."

Entries get a Jolly Jog T-shirt, beard and Santa hat, but need to register by Nov. 23.

Arrive before the run and enjoy cider, hot chocolate and Christmas music.

Sponsorships are currently sought for Jolly Jog with lots of perks depending upon the level of giving. For more information on sponsorships call 662-808-0415.
