Campers heading to one of the Crossroads area’s most popular outdoor attractions will soon find even better access to amenities to make their stay more enjoyable.
Major upgrades are underway on RV camping sites at Tishomingo State Park. Park Manager Robert Barske said the work includes 22 camp sites which are getting improved 50 amp electrical service.
All sites will also have connections for an upgraded sewer system.
The improvements also include new concrete pads at all sites along with dirt work to level the sites and improve access.
New picnic tables and grills are also being added at sites throughout the park.
The work is scheduled to be complete by mid-August and Barske said he’s already hearing from campers looking forward to taking advantage of the improvements.
“A lot of our usual campers are really excited,” he said.
The camp site improvements come on the heels of a new glamping program added at Tishomingo as well as JP Coleman and several other parks across the state.
Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks partnered with Tentrr to provide the fully-outfitted campsites at the parks. The sites offer campers an easy, ready-to-go way to enjoy the outdoors.
The sites feature large safari-style, canvas-walled tents sitting atop a raised platform. They include a queen-sized bed with memory foam mattress, heat source, a fire pit, a grill, Adirdondack-style chairs and a picnic table with storage.
