A variety of locally made goods, including bread and candles, will be abundant at Saturday’s Green Market.
Race day is also Green Market day at the depot – usually drawing one of the year’s biggest assemblies of artisans.

“It should be a big day with the Coke run going on downtown,” said Crossroads Museum Director Whitney Worsham. “It’s a good time to do some shopping for Mother’s Day gifts and just get out and enjoy the fresh air.”
All wares that will be on offer are locally produced and handmade items from a wide variety of artisans. Just a sampling of the items expected are pottery, leather goods, bird houses, plants, stuffed animals, candles, woodwork, jewelry, art, soap, jams and jellies, and locally produced honey.
“We’ve got close to 60 signed up, which is about what we usually have for May,” said Worsham. “It is probably the second-biggest market we have after the one right before Christmas.”
A vendor featuring dog grooming and dog treats is new to the lineup.
Food is always a big part of the event. A new seller will have tamales and street corn, and The Caffeinated Raven coffee truck is returning. Corndogs, cotton candy and fried pies are among the other treats to tempt the crowd.
The museum will also be open for anyone who wants to walk through the historic depot during the event. Worsham said it will be a good opportunity to view the growing model train exhibit.
The weather forecast is looking favorable for Saturday.
“We hope people will come out and support the museum,” said Worsham. “It is our fundraiser that keeps the museum open and supports local artisans.”
Other upcoming Green Market dates this year are Sept. 9, Oct. 14 and Nov. 18.
