The Fourth of July will be a little less colorful in Pickwick this year as the annual fireworks show on the river has been canceled.

Hardin County Tourism Director Beth Pippin said this was to have been the first year of a cooperative arrangement to alternate the annual show between Pickwick Landing State Park and Grand Harbor Marina with Grand Harbor set to host this year.

Pippin said she was notified a few weeks ago Grand Harbor would be unable to host this year’s event.

She said there just isn’t enough time to arrange a show at the state park for this year and meet the standards expected of the always popular and huge fireworks display.

Pippin said the fireworks will return to the state park for July 4, 2023.

While the display in Pickwick won’t be happening, she encourages everyone to attend the display in Saltillo, Tenn. beginning at dark on the Fourth of July. Fireworks will be shot from the bank of the river in the city.
