One of Corinth’s busy highway intersections was the scene of a serious crash early Thursday.

The Corinth Police Department responded to a collision involving a motorcycle at 9:47 a.m. on U.S. Highway 72 at the Alcorn Drive intersection. Capt. Ben Gann said the driver of the motorcycle, David Bryan Jr., 29, of Corinth, was taken to Magnolia Regional Health Center with severe injuries.

Driving a 1988 Harley Davidson, Bryan was westbound on the highway. Polly Shelby, 58, of Falkner, was driving a Jeep Liberty as she attempted to navigate a left turn onto Alcorn Drive. Shelby had a green light but not a green arrow as she made the turn.

“She said she saw the motorcycle and she thought she could make the left turn in time to get in front of him,” said Gann. “She turned left and he struck her vehicle in the passenger rear, right about the tire.”

Shelby was not injured, according to the crash report.
