A Corinth man faces a murder charge after a weekend shooting that left a woman dead.
Isaiah Jerome Gunn, 20, is charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling. Charges were filed on Monday.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday just outside the city limits of Corinth. Sheriff Ben Caldwell said deputies responded to a call of a shooting at a house on County Road 105 off Kendrick Road in the Box Chapel area and found Brandy Leigh Smith-Mauney, 40, deceased in the driveway of her residence.
Deputies learned another individual had been shot and left the scene in a private vehicle. Mickey Gene Robinson, 29, of Henderson Road, Corinth, was treated and released at Magnolia Regional Health Center for a gunshot wound to the leg.
The sheriff’s department is investigating what led to the dispute among the individuals.
“There was an altercation that took place outside the residence, and he was asked to leave,” said Caldwell. “He pulled a firearm and fired multiple rounds, striking her, killing her there in the driveway.”
Gunn is also accused of firing at a third individual, but that person was not hit. However, rounds did strike a neighboring residence.
Caldwell said Gunn fled the scene but turned himself in at the sheriff’s office at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
