Authorities are asking for help in locating a classic car valued at around a quarter-million dollars stolen from a shop in Prentiss County.

Sheriff Randy Tolar said the fully-restored 1971 rally red Plymouth Barracuda two-door with a 426 Hemi engine was taken from a shop on County Road 1290 in the Tuscumbia Community of Prentiss County around 11 p.m. Saturday evening. Tolar said the car is valued at around $250,000.

A witness told investigators they saw an early 2000s model black four-wheel-drive Chevy Silverado truck with either an extended or four-door cab and a white enclosed car hauler trailer parked near the intersection of County Road 1290 and County Road 1371 about 30 minutes before the crime. They also saw two males, both around six-feet tall and heavy set, wearing black clothing, standing outside the truck.

A Cobra Surveillance system DVR unit was also taken in the theft.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the car or the identity of those responsible is asked to contact the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department at 662-728-6232 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-773-TIPS (8477).
