The show must go on.
After several postponements due to COVID restrictions, local economic development leaders have made the decision to go virtual with the 2020 edition of The Alliance Annual Meeting.
Set for Thursday at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom Conference, the event will include 2020 year in review economic achievement highlights in Corinth and Alcorn County, along with the traditional awards and giveaways.
The Alliance President Clayton Stanley said there was hope to eventually hold the in-person meeting as normal, but the coronavirus had other plans.
“The Annual Meeting is typically held each year in November, but due to the pandemic we elected to postpone the meeting in hopes that the virus would ease up and public gathering size restrictions would be lifted,” Stanley told the Daily Corinthian. “Unfortunately, that was not the case, and we concluded that the show must go on.”
Stanley said missing from this year will be the social interaction.
“While we all look forward to seeing each other at the Annual Meeting, virtual meetings have become commonplace for us all and we have a great meeting planned that we hope will be both exciting and informative,” added the president.
It was a banner year for The Alliance which included a $300,000,000 capitol investment with the addition of Mission Forest Products to the RailHub and the expansion of Kimberly-Clark.
The Alliance’s Marketing & Membership Director Karen Isbell said Alliance members should pre-register to attend the virtual Zoom Conference meeting to be eligible to win door prizes.
“Members should have received an email earlier this week that includes a registration link, or contact the office at 662-287-5269.” said Isbell.
