Law enforcement agencies are searching for a hit and run suspect who fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian with an SUV on Wednesday afternoon on South Harper Road.

Officials want the public’s help in locating a black four-door Chevy Tahoe with damage to the front passenger side, said Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell.

The 23-year-old victim from Corinth was airlifted with injuries near the accident scene. Caldwell said the victim, William Sanderson, was released from a Tupelo hospital on Wednesday night.

The accident happened at 4 p.m. just east of Manpower Road near Mississippi Polymers, he said.

Security cameras captured the Tahoe on video and an eyewitness confirmed it was the vehicle which struck the victim, he said. The Tahoe was southbound toward U.S. 45 when the accident happened.

“We have had some tips come in and we appreciate it,” said Caldwell. “We are asking anyone to come forward with any information.”
