This lost check in the mail story has a very happy ending.

David and Pat Palmer of Bell Liquefied Gas Co., Inc. in Corinth have generously donated $250 to the 2020 Corinth Rotary Club/Daily Corinthian Christmas Basket Fund in memory of Lynn Carmichiel.

In no fault of their own, the delivery of the check to the 25th silver anniversary of the community food basket fund was delayed. The belated arrival to a great cause from good community-minded people now brings the total to $21,250, helping meet the goal and get the bills paid.

In a year known for a COVID-19 pandemic, a positive twist can be added to the historic year on the local level.

The $21,250 raised during the 2020 campaign now ranks as the 4th best year of giving over the past decade. It tops the 2019 total of $18,207 raised and marks just the second time the past decade the goal was reached.

A $25,000 goal was set in 2011 when $27,270 was raised. The $21,250 raised during the 2020 Christmas Basket Fund campaign tops totals raised in 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2010.

One thousand food baskets were given away on Saturday, Dec. 19 by the Corinth Rotary Club and other community volunteers on faith the $21,000 goal would be met.
