A friendship between two competitors has grown into a growing company helping provide medical supply needs throughout Northeast Mississippi.

Med Supply Plus offers customers a complete range of medical equipment and supplies with a focus on customer education and making sure each customer gets what they need to live their best life.

Co-owner Ronnie Sleeper is a veteran of the medical supply business having worked with patients and providers for more than 15 years. Around 12 years ago he and his now partner, Crossroads Medical Supply owner Joe Morton, became friends and began helping each other out. What began as friendly competitors eventually gave birth to the combined company as they realized they could serve customers even better by joining forces. Five years ago their company’s combined and earlier this year they rebranded under the Med Supply Plus name, bringing it all under a single name customers can count on, said Sleeper.

The company has locations in Corinth, Ripley and their newest location opened in March in New Albany. They offer full service medical supply, including lift chairs, oxygen equipment, CPAP equipment, diabetic shows, walkers, wheelchairs and accessories, wound care supplies and much much more.

Sleeper said their goal is to be a partner with their customers and healthcare providers in each person’s individual health journey. With that comes an emphasis on patient education, making sure each customer not only gets the equipment and supplies they need, but also the knowledge they need to use it properly to achieve the best possible outcome and improvement in their quality of life.

“We really pride ourselves on the level of patient education, making sure they know what they need and how to use it,” he said.

With an experienced staff bringing many years of knowledge and including licensed respiratory therapists, they’re prepared to help meet the unique individual needs of each customer.

Sleeper said while 2020 has been a challenging year and they’ve had to develop and maintain protocols to keep both their staff and customers safe, it’s also been a reminder of why they do what they do.

He’s quick to give praise to all the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic and said they’re proud to be a partner with all of these heroes in caring for patients.

He loves the medical supply business because he said it is ultimately about caring. He understands everyone who comes to them is either themselves struggling with an illness or has a loved one dealing with medical problems.

“To be successful in this business you have to have a heart to help people. You have to have that servant heart,” he said.

(Med Supply Plus is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at their locations in Corinth at 507 South Fulton Drive, Ripley at 1021 City Avenue North and New Albany at 716 Bankhead Street and offer after hours services in emergencies as well. They’re also active online at www.medsupplyplus.net and on Facebook.)
