Prentiss County Supervisors have approved the distribution of federal funding received to offset expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The county has received approximately $331,000 in funding through the federal CARES act providing relief for local governments during the crisis, explained Chancery Clerk David “Bubba” Pounds.

The board agreed to allocate $28,000 per supervisor district to cover additional expenditures incurred by the districts, such as employee overtime.

The remaining funds, amounting to approximately $170,000, will be held in reserve to cover future emergencies.

The next regular meeting of the board is set for 10 a.m on Monday, January 4, 2021.
