The big screen is coming back to downtown Booneville this Friday night.

The Booneville Main Street Association will host another edition of Screen on the Green this Friday, July 24, featuring Disney’s 2020 family adventure film “Doliittle” staring Robert Downey Jr. at the Triangle.

The fun begins with food trucks opening up at 6:30 p.m. and the film will be shown around 8 p.m. or as soon as the sun goes down.

Booneville Main Street Executive Director Lexie Gamble said they encourage everyone to come out for a night of family fun. They are taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe during the pandemic and will have hand sanitizing stations and a limited number of masks available. Social distancing will be encouraged and masks are encouraged, but not required. They will also be sanitizing the tables between each family.

Gamble said several downtown businesses are also planning extended hours that night to give people a chance to shop and see some of what downtown has to offer.

Another movie night will be planned for August to take the place of the annual downtown block party, said Gamble. She said COVID-19-related precautions and social distancing would make it extremely difficult to offer the usual family games at the block party, so they’ve decided to host an expanded movie night to bring the community together in its place. A final date and details for the event will be announced soon.
