The Booneville School District will soon be reaching out to the community to help envision an even more successful future.
Superintendent Dr. Todd English recently discussed with the district’s board of trustees plans for another long-term planning process. He said the district has accomplished nearly all of the goals set during their last such effort and it’s time to again look to the future and plan out where they want to be down the road.
He said the process is expected to begin with the start of the next school year and will include community and parent surveys, meetings with various stakeholders and other efforts to set goals and priorities for the district.
English also updated the board on expected funding for the next fiscal year from the state. He said he anticipates an increase of around $350,000 to $450,000 in MAEP (Mississippi Adequate Education Program) funding which will be aimed at offsetting increased costs due to inflation.
In other business, the board:
Accepted the resignations as of the end of the current school year of teachers Alexis White, John Allen, Pam Eaton and Mollie-Grace Hopkins.
Approved hiring Kylee Steward and Kimberly Avent as certified teachers at Anderson Elementary for the 2023-24 school year.
Approved hiring Cassandra Davis as librarian at Anderson Elementary for the 2023-24 school year.
Approved hiring Trey Loden as a fifth grade science teacher at Booneville Middle School for the 2023-24 school year.
Approved hiring Stephen Cooper as a teacher at the alternative school for the 2023-24 school year.
