Prentiss County Electric Power Association is cutting rates for all customers.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) along with Prentiss County Electric Power Association (PCEPA) announced a 2.5 percent rate reduction to all customers during the next 10 months beginning December 1 through September 30, 2021.

Because TVA reduced expenses and had an excellent year ending Sept. 30, 2020 and because of the many hardships caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the TVA board voted to reduce wholesale rates 2.5 percent to the 153 local power companies like PCEPA that resell the power generated by TVA.

“The Prentiss County Electric Power Association Board Members recognize the hardships that many families, businesses and industries have gone through since the coronavirus pandemic began so they quickly voted to decrease local rates to pass the wholesale decrease that will amount to $591,303 to our 13,914 electric members during the next 10 months,” said Ronny Rowland, general manager.
