Thomas Wilton Chase

Thomas Wilton Chase, 92, passed away on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at the Landmark Nursing Home in Booneville. Thomas was born October 19, 1929, to Tom O. Chase and Faye Woodruff Chase. He married the love of his life, Marjorie King Chase on Dec. 26, 1951. The two were married for 70 wonderful years.

Mr. Chase was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Thrasher Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Thomas worked as a machinist for the Brown Shoe Company for 26 years. He later retired from Northeast Mississippi Community College as a maintenance man. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at Thrasher Baptist Church. A visitation will take place at the church beginning at 10 a.m., until service time. Bro. Shane Evetts will be officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Booneville Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his loving wife; son, Terry Chase (Paula) of Booneville; daughter, Sandy Johnson (Ronnie) of Booneville; brother, Travis Ray Chase of Algoma; grandson, Kelby Chase of Atlanta; granddaughter, Mallory Johnson of Booneville; and his best friend of over 50 years, Van Bearden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Chase and Robert Chase; and sisters-in-law, Janette Chase, Sara Chase and Linda Chase.

Pallbearers will be the deacons of Thrasher Baptist Church.

Bobby Comello, 43, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville.

Lisa Thorn Smith Edmondson

Lisa Thorn Smith Edmondson, 42, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, playing with animals, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. She loved cooking and serving people at her business in Baldwyn, Tom’s Soda Shop.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Michael Williams officiating. Burial was in the Ingram Cemetery.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Tim Edmondson of Baldwyn; her sons, Ethan Smith of Saltillo, Colton Smith of Saltillo and Dylan Edmondson of New Albany; her daughters, Emily Smith of Saltillo and Kayla Edmondson of Guntown; her brother, Chris Moody (Tina) of Furrs and her sisters, Angela Hankins of Plantersville, Jennifer Simmons of Pontotoc and Dena Waldo of Saltillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Thorn and Linda Bradford and her niece, Halee Moody.

Pallbearers were Jason Chism, Benny Lytal, Ricky Tapp, Jerry Whitehead, Mitch Harris, Jason McKay, Lanny Shelley and Reed Rinehart.

Richard Wayne Godwin

Richard Wayne Godwin, 71, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born March 6, 1950, to Jessie, Jr. and Rita Godwin. He was a 1968 graduate of Booneville High School. He worked for Frontier Communications for 43 years. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, metalworking, welding, genealogy, and spending time with his family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Janice Godwin; four sons, Brad Godwin, Shane (Pamela) Godwin, Robin (Cynthia) Godwin and Shain Coleman; one daughter, Seana Coleman; two brothers, Ronnie (Mari) Godwin and Jesse (Stephanie) Godwin, III; one sister, Liane (James) Crowe; seven grandchildren, Erica Culver, Addison Godwin, Autumn Godwin, Destiny Godwin, Brooklyn Godwin, Gage Godwin and Seth Coleman; eight great-grandchildren, Ivia Grace, Adalinn, Avyn, Albani, Lynnox, Tesla, Delta and Eliza.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lynette Godwin; one brother, Randy Godwin; his grandparents, Ross and Caroline Rabalias Robinson and Jesse Sr. and Belvia Cunningham Godwin.

Jacky Goff

Jacky Goff, 77, passed away Dec. 27, 2021, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. He was a great family man and employee of NMMC for 42 years where he retired. He loved his church and teaching his church class at Unity Baptist Church where he was a member for over 30 years. He was Gideon and a member of the Christian fellowship at NMMC.

Services were held at Unity Baptist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Jerry Estes officiating. Burial was in the Unity Cemetery

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Brenda Raper Goff, daughter Summer Gorman, son Kevin Goff, grandchildren Lauren Burgett, Landon Goff (Karlie), great-grandchildren Chandler and Bently.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Opal Deaton Goff; sisters Lorraine Berry, Alene Franks, Jeraldine Wages, Shirley Lyner; brothers Clarence (Buddy) Goff Jr. Johnny Goff; his in-laws, Osburn (Bill) and Dorothy Raper; sister-in-law Betty Raper Parham.

Marcus Hodges

Marcus Hodges, 47, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth. He enjoyed his cats, tinkering with car audio and working on old trucks.

He is survived by his partner, Greg Wilemon of Booneville; his brothers, Michael Hodges of Guntown and James Hodges of Lucedale; his father, Edward Don Hodges of Lucedale; his aunt, Stephanie Williams of Grant, Ala. and his special friend, Juliett Ratliff of Booneville.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jenkins.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.

Buddy Pardue

Billy Ray “Buddy” Pardue, 71, passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at his home. He was born May 30, 1950, to Hafford Ray and Artie Pardue. He worked for 34 years for the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and going to the Amish country.

A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Guin and Bro. Brian Ramey officiating. Burial was in Antioch#2 Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Amanda Pardue; one son, Billy Gene Pardue; two daughters, Miranda (Jeremy) Thomas and Brittney (Chris) Taylor; two sisters, Patsy (Ray) Wooten and Peggy (Ken) Ramey; and three granddaughters, ElleAnna Pardue, Kylie Thomas, and Kendall Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Dalen Thomas.

Jamie Murphy Sparks

Jamie Murphy Sparks, 36, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at her home in New Orleans, La.

She was born in Galveston, Texas on Dec. 30, 1984, to William Johnie “Tink” and Kathlene Richards Murphy. She attended Thrasher School and had previously worked at the Landmark Nursing Home. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, listening to music and shopping.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Booneville Funeral Home. Visitation for Ms. Sparks will be held prior to the funeral service from 4 p.m. until service time. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her daughter, Jaida McKinney of Booneville; the father of her child, Matt McKinney of Booneville; her mother Kathlene Murphy of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Carrie Murphy of Booneville; and an aunt, Sheila Pool of New Orleans, La.

She was preceded in death by her father, and her grandmother, Ethel “RV” Murphy, and aunt, Reba Jameson.

Kathy Walden

Kathy Walden, 64, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021. She worked at Lucky Star for several years. She loved music and was in the band in high school and at Northeast Mississippi Community College. She was very talented and loved crafting. She loved her dogs, Chewey, Hottie, Dandy, and Tank.

She is survived by her son, Colton Walden of Booneville.

A memorial service was held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 2, 2021, in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
