W. D. Spencer

W. D. Spencer, 85, of Florence, Ala., died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at his daughter’s residence in Mississippi.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at 2 p.m., at Elkins Funeral Home in the chapel with Brother Ben Cook officiating. Burial was at Greenview Memorial Park.

Mr. Spencer was a graduate of Booneville High School, and a member of the Booneville Masonic Lodge #305 for 60 years, he served as the president of Alabama Association of Life Underwriters in 1984 and 1985 and vice president of Mutual Savings Insurance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fay Spencer; his parents, R. C., and Sula Spencer; and a son-in-law, Jeffrey G. Crabb.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his daughters, Deborah S. Haynes; Melba Crabb, and Rebeca S. Pickle (Bruce); grandchildren, Trey Slaton (Nikki), Megan Sisk (Adam), Matthew Haynes (Savannah), and Logan Pickle; great-grandchildren, Chase Sisk, Cooper Haynes, and Jamison Haynes; beloved dog, Spicy. His passion was playing with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Trey Slaton, Matthew Haynes, Logan Pickle, Megan Sisk, Terry Buchannon, and Ben Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Sist, Cooper Haynes, and Jamison Haynes.

Samie Fleming

BOONEVILLE — Samie Carlton Fleming, 47, passed away on Dec. 15, 2021, at his home in Booneville. He worked in furniture manufacturing and enjoyed fishing and hunting arrowheads. He loved spending time with his family and he was a Baptist.

Memorial services were held at Waters Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at 11 a.m., with Bro. Kevin Balius officiating.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Fleming of Booneville; two children, Shelby Lynn Jewel Fleming and Marcus Cruz Fleming; brother, Larry Dean Fleming; mother of his children, Carissa Fleming; several nieces and nephews; host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Dean Fleming; grandparents, Sammy and Edith Hisaw, James Carlton and Jewel Fleming; nephew, Hunter Gage Fleming.

Philip Wayne Dendy

Philip Wayne Dendy, 71, of Iuka, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Philip was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired truck driver. He loved gambling and his cat, Ziva.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Dendy; five daughters, Gaela Lashley (Greg), Tracie Nash (Alan), Amanda Dendy, Candy Owens (Jonathan), and Adrian Wilbanks (Bryan); 11 grandchildren, Garrett Lashley, Kaleigh Colburn, Tyler Lashley, Kayla Owens, Ross Nash, Kalee Lathrop, Morgan Wilbanks, Olivia Williams, Jathan Owens, Lane Wilbanks, and Aiden Dendy; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Alfred Dendy and Susie Faye Cook Green; and a sister, Susan Ramey. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, was entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Chris Borden. Interment was in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Olan Grimes, Earl Hobbs, Bryan Wilbanks, Alan Nash, Johnny Owens, and Greg Lashley.

Milton Vardaman Pharr

Milton Vardaman Pharr, 76, of Marietta passed away on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He owned and operated his own furniture factory for many years before retiring. He loved gardening, hunting, trot lining and fishing at his cabin in Bear Creek, Ala., but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Elbert Ray Bennett and Bro. James Young officiating. Burial was in the Zion Rest Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Vonciel Pharr, whom he married on June 3, 1966; his daughter, Lisa Pounds (Michael); his grandchildren, Blake Pounds (Hayley) and Laci Adams (Wesley); his great-grandchildren, Evan Adams, Fisher Adams, Indi Adams, Blaklei Pounds, Clara Rae Pounds, Liddy Kate Pounds and Jax Pounds; his brothers, Harold Dean Pharr and Rickey Pharr; his sister, Jane Cole; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vardaman and Mae Pharr; his brothers, Hershel Pharr, Jimmy Vaughn Pharr and Gene Pharr; and his sister, JoAnn Sheron.

Luther W. Posey

Luther W. Posey, 76, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. His biggest passion in life was fishing.

Services are scheduled for Noon on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery.

Luther is survived by his sons, Luther L. Posey of Baldwyn, Rickey Posey (Barbara) of Fulton and David Posey of Pratt; his daughters, Melissa Brown (Shannon) of Bayminette, and Brittany Knight of Hamilton, Ala.; his brothers, Johnny Posey (Jenni) of Guntown, James Posey (Deborah) of Birmingham Ridge and Dewayne Posey of Booneville; his sister, Dorothy Stevens (Homer) of Booneville; 15 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Durmon D. and Lula Pearl Posey; his wife, Eva Posey; his daughters, Doris and Brenda Posey; his brothers, Marlin and Tommy Posey and his sisters, Nadine Posey, Mary Ruth Smith and Laura Sue Posey.
